Your Chance to Vote on the new Neighbourhood Plan
A Referendum will be held on Thursday, 3rd October 2024 to decide the question:
“Do you want Cornwall Council to use the neighbourhood plan for St Stephen-in-Brannel Parish to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”
If it is approved, the Plan will strongly influence the way planning applications are decided.

It is really important that everybody who is eligible to vote in St Stephen in Brannel parish area use their vote to help the community decide this question, so that the result will truly reflect local opinions.
The draft Neighbourhood Plan was written for St Stephen in Brannel Parish Council and its community by a Steering Group made up of parish councillors and community volunteers. It received broad community support when the 1st draft was consulted on in late 2022. The Plan was amended in the light of the comments made and sent to Cornwall Council which carried out a further round of consultations. The Plan was then examined by an Independent Examiner. She recommended that subject to some changes, the Plan could go forward to a referendum of all voters in the Parish.

Voting papers for the referendum will be delivered by Cornwall Council in the next few weeks, and the referendum will be held on Thursday, 3rd October 2024.

Applications to register to vote or to vote by post or proxy should be made to the Electoral Registration Officer at 4th Floor, South Wing, County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY by the deadlines set out below:

Applications for an emergency proxy vote (in cases where unforeseen illness, incapacity, occupation, service or employment occurs after the deadline for proxy applications). The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 25th September 2024.
